Managing Your Insurance Policy

Compliance Updated 4 days ago

Why Insurance Tracking Matters

HOA insurance is one of the most important — and most commonly overlooked — aspects of community management. A lapsed policy can expose your association to catastrophic financial risk. Nestingbird helps you stay on top of your coverage so nothing falls through the cracks.

Adding Your Insurance Information

Go to your Home dashboard to enter your insurance details:

  • Policy number — for quick reference when filing claims or verifying coverage.
  • Expiration date — Nestingbird uses this to send automatic reminders before your policy expires.

You can also upload a copy of your full insurance policy as an HOA document for easy access by board members. Alternatively, forward the policy email from your insurer directly to your account's Document Mailbox and Nestingbird will import and process it automatically.

Automatic Expiration Reminders

Once you've entered an expiration date, Nestingbird will automatically send email reminders to your board at 60 days and 30 days before the renewal deadline. If you don't need reminders, you can disable them from Settings. This ensures you never accidentally let coverage lapse.

Impact on Your Building Score

Having current, active insurance is a core component of your Compliance score. An expired or missing policy will significantly lower your score. Keeping your insurance information up to date is one of the easiest ways to improve your overall Building Score.

Plan Requirement

Insurance tracking is available on all plans. Automatic expiration reminders require the Insights plan or above.
