Connecting Your Bank Account

Financial Transparency Updated 4 days ago

Why Connect Your Bank?

Manually entering transactions is tedious and error-prone. By connecting your HOA's bank account through Plaid, Nestingbird automatically imports your transactions daily. This gives you real-time visibility into your association's finances and dramatically reduces bookkeeping effort.

How to Connect

Board members will be prompted to connect the HOA bank account directly from the Dashboard. Click Connect Bank Account to launch the secure Plaid connection flow:

  1. Search for your bank — Plaid supports thousands of financial institutions across the US.
  2. Log in with your bank credentials — Plaid uses bank-level encryption. Your credentials are never stored by Nestingbird.
  3. Select the account — if your bank has multiple accounts, choose the one your HOA uses for operations.
  4. Confirm the connection — Plaid will verify the account and begin importing transactions.

What Gets Imported

Nestingbird imports transaction details including the date, amount, merchant name, and transaction type (debit or credit). Transactions typically appear within 24 hours of posting to your bank account. Historical transactions from up to 2 years back are also imported on first connection, though results may vary depending on your bank.

Once connected, navigate to Finances in the sidebar to view and manage your imported transactions.

Security

Plaid is used by thousands of financial applications and is trusted by major banks. The connection is read-only — Nestingbird can view your transactions but cannot move money or make changes to your account. You can disconnect your bank at any time from Settings.

Plan Requirement

Bank connection and transaction imports require the Insights plan or above.
